1. Summary
In 1969, the young who were born shortly after WWII, the
“baby-boomers”, wanted to
reject the world as it was; they did not want to live as
their parents did. This counter-culture movement lasted
about 10 years, from 1965 to 1975 and the young kids were
given the name “hippies”. The term
“hippy” may come from an African language and
mean “open your
eyes”. What is sure is that the movement
was very strong in North America, but in the rest of the
world too, especially in Western Europe.
